Ryanair pilots in the Netherlands will join the strike of their colleagues in four countries tomorrow after claiming that the airline is taking legal action to stop the strike.

Dutch Union VNV said it was “furious” after being told the budget airline is going to court today in Harlem, to “avoid the Ryanair airline pilot strike in the Netherlands in the summer.”

“The Dutch Association of airline pilots (VNV) I was surprised, but angry attack on the Dutch labour rights,” said the spokesman.

“Nowhere in Europe Ryanair start this type of lawsuit in recent months.”

In a statement the Union said that the European strike pilot should be a “Wake-up call” for management of Ryanair and claim legal threats to his decision “easier.”

He said his requirements were modest, including Dutch law applies to contracts, no more “bogus” self-employment and enough sick pay and pensions.

Ryanair did not respond to requests for comment on the statement of the Union.

The number of passengers before tomorrow flight cancellations had increased to 67 000 as pilots in five countries, including Ireland – carrying out 24-hour layover.

A total of 20 flights were canceled from Ireland, 22 in Sweden, 104 in Belgium and 250 in Germany, after the Vereinigung cockpit (VC) said its members would join the strike yesterday. Thus, the total number of flights, which will be based on 396 – excluding any possible cancellations in the Netherlands.

VC has announced its members will strike from tomorrow, 3.01 am to 2.59 am on Saturday. In his statement, he claimed all the regular flights from the German airports will be affected.

The Union said that all the regular pilots of Ryanair stations in Germany will strike.

He said he received a “superior offer” from Dublin.

The President of the EC, Martin Locker, said that the Union demanded better pay and working conditions.

“The improvement would be unthinkable without increasing flight costs,” he said. He said that Ryanair categorically ruled out any such increase to the talks. “The VC expresses the impact on affected passengers, flight attendants, ground service. Passengers can contact Ryanair directly on its scheduled flights, as soon as the company can tell which flights go work.”

Press Secretary of the airline Ryanair said it had cancelled 250 of the more than 2,400 flights scheduled for work to Germany tomorrow.

He blamed the ATT refuses to give the notice within seven days “unjustified” Strike, so it can be minimized.

He said that the strike is unnecessary as Ryanair sent VK a revised proposal last Friday in a collective Agreement and called on the Union meet for negotiation.

Ryanair’s Kenny Jacobs said he offered to meet the VC yesterday, but he did not respond to the invitation.

“Our pilots in Germany, excellent working conditions”, – he said.
