Borris ewe breeders show and sale will see sheep breeders across the country flock to Carlow on Thursday, August 16

Located in the picturesque town of Borris in South Carlow, which was home to the annual event over the past 55 years. This year the exhibition will display Borris sheep, a cross between a Cheviot ewe and a Suffolk RAM on March Borris.

In the Borris ewe is renowned for its hardiness and maternal traits, according to the Chairman of the Association, Maurice O’donoghue.

“Hardiness comes from the Suffolk breed, as well as the characteristics of the mountain Cheviot. High maternal traits acquired from the Cheviot breed,” said Maurice.

The breeders from your local present to pick them up Borris ewes and lambs on show, which starts at 10.30 sharp.

Hogget and ewe lambs will be offered in groups of 10, and the judging will take place before the auction.


In Borris the sale of sheep is in full swing.

Last year, hogget ewes sold from €140 to €190, while the ewe lambs sold from €70 to €120.

All buyers are advised to arrive early, as the sale of sheep will commence at 10.30 and hoggets at 12.30.
