The Turkish Lira strengthened slightly against the dollar in thin trade on Tuesday, shrugging off remarks by the President of the United States Donald trump eliminates any agreement requires Turkey to secure the release of the detained American pastor.

In an interview with Reuters on Monday, trump stated that he is not concerned that his tough stance could end up hurting European and emerging market economies.

“I think it’s very sad that Turkey does. I think you’re making a terrible mistake. There will be no concessions,” he said.

Turkey demanded the United States hand of Fethullah Gulen, a Turkish cleric in the U.S., suspects in the attempted coup against Erdogan, but the United States refused this.

On Monday, Erdogan called on Turks ‘ religious and Patriotic feelings of the eve of the Muslim holiday, promising they will not put “kneel” from the crisis tearing Lira.
