The expansion of the regional fiber network Siro will be the “cash cow” for Vodafone and the esb, its Executive Director said.

Speaking to the Sunday independent, as she prepares to announce that it has allowed 175,000 homes and businesses in regional cities for broadband fiber-Shawn Atkinson said that during the Syro €450 million for the construction of the bill rises with the cost of labor, it is on track to be profitable.

“If you have built a reliable network and lean operations model and you have that he turns into a cash cow,” said he. “Because the money spent is found. So it’s a question of when you will receive the simple payback and the return looks like. We are very pleased with the business plan today.”

Atkinson said the company still intends to build over 450,000 regional homes and businesses promised in the first phase, although this is not now to be completed later this year as originally promised.

He also said that the business plan of the company, which was originally based on having to stick to regional cities, you can “evolve” into more cities in Ireland.

“We strive to be a national player,” he said. “We see opportunities in the city centre and suburban villages, but we do not plan to make a fight between the channels.”

The move comes as the government continues to wait for the ENET to explain how it will maintain its national broadband plan offer from disintegration after its main construction partner, GSP walked away from the process.

Last week, EIR has distanced himself from replacing a GSP directly, although the company is currently negotiating with ENET on other issues related to the NBP.

If ENET is unable to find a satisfactory replacement for GSP in the coming weeks, rural rollout may be postponed again to 2019.
