Ultra-competitive market, the forecourt may soon see a whole new round fancy repair work. The Tedcastle group, which owns the Top oil — one of the largest Irish sellers of fuel was purchased from the family Reihill Canada Irving oil.

Irving already owns Whitegate in cork and at the plant, along with import of top fuel at Dublin port, gives him a strong position, which undoubtedly will be considered by the competition authorities.

But with electric cars is slow but unstoppable reality for the industry, the real appetizer in this city, Irving, most likely to try their hand at advanced Irish forecourt sector catering. The Reihill family — who advised on the sale of corporate law LK shields previously struck the best deals for top to supply fuel at the largest service stations.

But, in General, a network of more than 200 garages were not the same makeup as competitors.

But don’t be surprised if you see a new owner of the canadian Top-bring plans and partnership at the top of the garage near you.

UrbanVolt have spark, it needs to status building

Dublin-UrbanVolt became the first Irish company to join the eclectic international club of companies that includes everything from ice cream, “Ben & Jerry”, “Danone”, outdoor clothing company Patagonia.

Innovative energy company, created in 2015, was given the international status of the Corp, which means that the company meets rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, governance, accountability and transparency. About 2600 companies in 60 countries and more than 150 industries have reached the standard, but this is a first for an Irish company. OOO Kennedy, head of marketing Department at UrbanVolt, said that the company was inspired by the desire of Patagonia to use the power of business to change the world for the better: “business must make money to survive, it is a fact. But it’s not enough. You need to use your business to do good and effect positive change in the world, especially when it comes to the environment,” she said.

The term ‘contactless payment’ has acquired a new meaning for me last week. That’s when I found myself stranded in the lobby and a prestigious Dublin hotel one morning with no way to pay for posh tea and designer sparkling water I ordered in advance of a planned tete-a-tete with business contacts.

Leaving your wallet (with cash, cards, ID and business cards at home) at home, a frantic 15 minutes ensued as I tried to figure out how I’ll pay for my tracks.

Twin sister/personal Bank Manager was abroad and I was not close enough from work or home, to drum up financial support for my destiny, while humiliating to call the GM of the hotel went unanswered.

Fortunately for me, I’m not completely insensitive, as a chief Executive came to my aid. Thanks eoghan O’mara Walsh, CEO, Irish Confederation of tourism and new first-time dad — that kept my blush and give me €20.

It was a happy ending, but contactless payments can’t come fast enough.
