Protests are planned at the angry rural wrestlers for the offer of the post to allow more than 150 rural post offices to close.

Councils and community activists have outlined a plan of “attack on rural Ireland” and warned that it would devastate the village.

The working group will be established to explore ways to save threatened branches – with the government urged to suspend all barriers until January.

Minister of communications and mass communications Denis Naughten faces a rebellion in his Roscommon-Galway base after it turned out, the highest rates of closure will be distributed in the West and Midlands.

The plan will see the closure of post offices in Galway (17), Roscommon (5), Mayo (11) and Donegal (17).

Mr. Naughten have categorically rejected the proposal closing will result in the loss of jobs.

The post also insisted the program is critical to the future viability of the postal service.

However, residents face the loss of their post office argued that this was a stupid cost-saving measures.
