National parks and wildlife conservation in County Louth, are looking for assistance in connection with the illegal killing of two Peregrine falcons.

Sokolov recently installed a nest in an inaccessible place in the Cooley mountains. Three eggs and two dead adult falcons restored by NPWS staff from the site of the nest.

Adults were unlawfully killed while trying to hatch Chicks. Forensic examinations and other evidence collected in the hope that a successful prosecution will take place.

The recent murder once again, unfortunately, confirmed that birds of prey are still in accordance with the acts of illegal persecution.

The peregrine Falcon is the fastest bird in the world, capable of speeds over 240 km/h in flight and are recorded in the 389 km/h, and the bowl for Holy water, diving for booty (Guinness book of records 2005) because of how they protect their nest sites from intruders, they can keep themselves persecuted.

The number of peregrine Falcon was destroyed in the 1950-ies and 1960-ies in connection with the widespread use of DDT and other pesticides.

Since then peregrine has experienced the recovery of the population, however they remain very vulnerable to human persecution, which is the main threat to the stability of the population.

This was clearly highlighted through the incidents in cooperation. Louth, as well as other shootings and poisonings, which claimed the Peregrines in recent years.
