As the prices in March fell in the last six weeks everyone associated with the business and wondered where the bottom might be.

The good news, such as what some average prices bullock on the first table, last week showed some signs of recovery.

Looking at the remaining part of the body of the table we see that prices of light 300-339kg stores continues to fall. The biggest loser in this weight was the best exterior of the animal, up 19c/kg or €58-76/ HD and leading the overall average of the Department will decrease by 11C/kg to €1.62/kg. In round numbers, which gives a spread of prices from €486-€646/HD.

Adding to the difficulty is a rumor that prices at the factory could still slip further.

Go to heifers, overall average prices were down between 2-4C/ kg. In some weight classes have suffered much greater turmoil than something that dense would mean average. 350-400kg section poorer the conformation the animal lost 11C/ kg on last week and now costs on average €1.30/kg, while 400-499kg section better animal takes the hit, back 8C/kg. section 500-599kg better the animal will also suffer, having lost 5C/kg, and ended the week at €2.28 kg.

All is not lost, as Themis trade, which took a severe beating recently due to the lack of sufficient cargo, last week, rebounded very nicely. Overall average prices for the entire section bull Themis increased from 20 to 34C/kg.

The best examples included €3.16/kg is given for a 280kg Charolais, Charolais clicking 290kg €3.05/kg. There was also a strong trade on heavier than 400kg+ bull buyers as the pen pressed on. Here are examples of Charolais and Limousins from 390-500kg sold from €2.50-2.70/kg. Themis Friesian heifers made from €1.60-2.00/kg, while most top end Charolais and Limousin sale from €2.80-3.00/kg.

2 BALLINAKILL the story here was another big sale, but where that animal was easier than selling, which has led to better dropped a little in price. Looking at the leaves, medium, heavy oxen ran from €1.95-2.35/kg with direct stores from €2.00-2.55/kg. Light store Bullocks made from €2.10-2.75/kg. Beef heifers made from €2.00-2.45/kg store heifers from €2.10-2.80/kg. Themis bulls on average range from €2.05 – 3.00/kg, with heifers Themis from €2.10-3.10/kg. Dry cows selling from €1.20-1.85/kg.

Lighter store bullock saw the price edge up by €20-30/HD, although clearly did not seem to have changed. Prices in the outer ring have also been improved. Sample prices from the ring, bullock saw 485kg Aberdeen Angus making €2.36/kg, while the same weight of Charolais was €2.86/kg. side Chicks are a selection of Limousin heifers from 390 – 415kgs sold €2.46-2.54/kg.

Trade for the stronger cattle were left here, while light simple types was difficult. Beef forward stores sold from €530-860/HD more Euro/kg in the shops at 500 kg from €500-760/HD with their weight. Stores from 400-500kg made from €420-635/HD €/kg, while lighter types sold on top of the €470/HD with weight. Beef and butcher heifers made from €480-790/HD with a weight as heifers over 400kg made from €420-625/ HD more Euro/kg. Light heifers made from €300-480/HD with weight. Cow beef sold from €260-460/HD more Euro/kg with the types of feeder from €/kg to €200/high definition Euro/kg.

5 KASTENBERG it was a special sale of continental bullock with some of the finest examples. Approximate prices on the day included 565kg Limousin, who amounted to €2.43/kg, three 518kg Charolais hit €2.38/kg, while 465kg Belgian Blue saw the hammer at €2.53/kg. Among the three heifers 445kg of the Aberdeen-Angus breed was €2.26/kg 490kg Charolais X to do 2.24/kg. the Best prices in Themis ring saw 345kg Charolais to go for €2.54/kg. the Upper part of the culled cows were Simmental x 635kg of €2.08/ kg.

As well as the usual sale here last week there was a special show and selling the calves. Among best performers was 405kg Charolais bull, which amounted to €2.47/ kg 415kg Limousin €2.30/kg and 425kg Belgian blue who came in at €2.10/ kg. Among weaners heifers 285kg was a Charolais who clicked a very nice €3.16/kg for its owner, a 350kg Limousin settled in her new house, valued at €2.36/kg.

Here are the numbers will remain the same as elsewhere cattle commanding good trade and plainer lots were harder to sell. Approximate prices among the Bulls included 565kg Aberdeen Angus, which amounted to €1,050 and red 415kg Limousin €800.
