-One-time fee of EUR 100 will be paid to farmers of land in mandatory electronic identification scheme (EID) for sheep, the Minister of agriculture Michael creed announced.

New ID requirements will be introduced in two stages. From 1 October all the national sheep identification system (NIS), approved tag suppliers will sell only two types of tags: a single electronic slaughter tags (for animals less than 12 months, moving directly from the farm from birth to slaughter), andelectronic tags (for all other sheep movements).

Then, on June 1, 2019, all sheep leaving the holding must be identified or the tag.

Minister in the creed States: “the extension of the electronic identification will allow to simplify the system of tagging of sheep and significantly reduce the requirements for the accounting entries for sheep farmers driving sheep in the stalls of the cattle, slaughter plants and export Assembly”.

Be a one-off payment of up to 100 Euro per farmer for the purchase of electronic tags from 1 October. It is twice more than the previously proposed figure of €50 charge.

Breeders need not apply for this funding, and able to use the reports to calculate amounts owed to each farmer on the scheme.

“One of the main problems is the need for appropriate transition period for farmers to use the already purchased stocks of tags to simplify the mechanisms for store lamb fattening, who would buy lambs already tagged with the “old” tags, and to showcase the plants and put in place the necessary infrastructure and system — phased implementation of the new requirements taking into account the different concerns”, – said the Minister of religion.

In addition, the Minister also announced grants showcase of 40 PCs of proven development costs (subject to a maximum of €10,000) infrastructure necessary to ensure their establishment printing of identification numbers for farmers in respect of sheep in the package.

b. electronic sets of tags (for all other movements of sheep).

Beginning June 1, 2019, all sheep leaving the holding must be identified electronically, requiring either

. a single electronic slaughter tag where lambs of less than 12 months are transferred directly from the holding of birth to the slaughterhouse, or

b. e-the set of tags in the case of all other movements of sheep.

The subsidy applies to the first order by tag ID request of the farmers after October 1, 2018.
