The construction permit was denied for a controversial solar farm of 377 acres in Foulksmills co. Wexford.

Permission was requested in mid-June, Highfield solar Ltd 152.8 hectares (377 acres) solar farm will be located in Raheenduff, Haresmead, Rosspile, Coolcliffe and Horetown North.

A decade of planning permission will include a permission for solar photovoltaic panels on ground mounted steel frame, STI electrical control building and connecting the inverter/transformer stations, battery storage units, storage containers and replacement of buildings, underground power and communications cables and pipelines; the border security fencing; upgrading of internal access roads, drainage systems, CCTV cameras and associated site works.

Highfield solar Ltd is attached a completed statement of environmental impact for the application.

Meetings were held in Clongeen community first action group, where concern was expressed about the impact solar farms in particular, that the value of homes within the vicinity of development may be reduced by 50% to 70%.

Local residents were notified in early March that the company intended to create a farm of solar energy and since that time, some farmers did not understand to have given permission for their land to be used.
