Sometimes I despair when I hear people talking about high premiums for car insurance. Because it is mandatory and you should have this, young people are generally worse, and this undermines their ability to earn income and save.

When you find yourself in the middle of 40-s you expect it to be behind you, especially if you have maximum no claims bonus, very low penalty points and have not been denied or had problems in the past.

However, last week I learned that when it comes to juicing clients, insurance company tactics, which is even more depressing than the high cost. That’s where they just don’t offer you any cover at all because of what you do for a living.

I usually take the train to work and cycle, I also have a life outside the 9-to-5 where I’m doing other work.

I play music, work as a journalist (hence this column) and I also teach, and some sports. For this reason, I have a commercial vehicle that is used for these transactions.

This year, answering the usual questions I get asked when trying to upgrade, I mentioned I was playing music and suddenly said that I could not be offered cover.

From the company I already was!

They said I should try insuremyvan.t. E. I called them and now my nickname dontinsuremyvan.t. E. because they refused to even quote for the cover.

Moreover, the Advisor says I would be best to go to the insurance company directly.

In addition to the lack of Pro-business attitude I expect from the broker, the whole idea of a mediator is always that they do not suggest independent advice and to promote the broker channel, because it’s one of the things that stops insurance companies from overcharging – that’s why we exist.

From there I called a chill.t. E. and so, they do not quote. I tried several others to no avail.

This is a nation that is proud of the fact that culture and our musical heritage is Central to it – the harp is our logo. Just don’t try to be a harp, or any musician for that matter, that there is somewhere to go to do their trading.

When it comes to treating customers unfairly insurers are as bad today as ever.
