Will not throw glory this year, but Kilkenny secured a National award with the title of International Miss macra.

Josephine O’neill, a high school teacher from Maddoxtown in Co Kilkenny, won them the coveted crown at the 47th International festival Miss macra 2018.

She beat off competition from 23 contestants from all over Ireland.

MS O’neill (24), which is a leading member of Callan macra, currently teaches both home Economics and Irish for pupils in cross and passion College, Kilcullen, Co Kildare.

She is actively involved in macra, both in the club and at the district level.

She has been a Secretary (2016-2018), assistant Secretary and Vice-President for district and held many events.

They included a throwing competition at the weekend, Mr. personality, which was held in Kilkenny for macra members from all over Ireland.

Miss O’neil was a member of Callan macra on Feirme 70th Committee; she received the award of the silver leadership in 2017, and have reached the national finals in impromptu public speaking and discussions with macra.

Trisha Delahunty, Seandún macra in co cork, came second, while Rebecca blow Fermanagh took third place.
