    The largest outdoor event in Europe, the national ploughing Championships will take place next week from Tuesday to Thursday, Screggan, Tullamore.

The largest outdoor event in Europe, the national ploughing Championships will take place next week from Tuesday to Thursday, Screggan, Tullamore.

On site is 700 acres, and last year nearly 300,000 people participated and 300 competitors showed us their skills.

With people coming from all over the country and beyond, we basic information about what route to take for three days.

One very popular stand at the ploughing this week display the road safety authority, where they had an acute display of every person who died in an accident this year, to remind visitors of real people in road accidents.

If you take the train to Killarney train station are 10 minutes away and the bus will drop you at the entrance. Room service bus; €5 child return ticket (under 16); €9 adult return ticket; €20, family ticket return (2 adults and max 3 children).

How to get to the plowing from cork/Munster

Blue route: traveling North on the M8 go to junction 6 (horse and jockey) and proceed to Thurles and Templemore and Roscrea on the N62. At Birr movement will join the N52 is a journey North through between kilcormac and Blueball and in Screggan, Tullamore.

How to get to the plowing from the South-East (Kilkenny)

Grey route: travelling from Kilkenny/South East heading North along 77 Darrow and following through to arrival at Portlaoise. The traffic will be directed left onto father brown road through Clonminham and road travel N80 to Mountmellick.

In Derryclooney bridge, Mountmellick traffic will be directed left and R422 through Rosenallis and Clonaslee. In Coolagh cross traffic will be directed directly into R421 (Killurin road). At Killurin cross traffic will be directed left towards building event in Screggan, Tullamore and Parking near the event site.

How to get to the plowing from the South-East (Carlow)

The yellow route: the move to Carlow in the South East will go for the N80 towards Portlaoise. At Bloomfield roundabout, Portlaoise traffic will be sent directly into Rathbrennan and at the junction 16(M7). Then traffic will turn left into a wasteland and left again at the wheel INN pub (sign-postedPortarlington).

Traffic will go to Kennells cross and turned to the left and go towards the city of Mountmellick. All traffic will be directed through the town of Mountmellick and Tullamore viaKilleigh. Then the traffic will proceed to Parking near the venues.

How to get to the plowing from Limerick, Kerry and South West

Brown route:traveling North on the M7 will be released at junction 26 (nenagh South) and proceed on the N52 to Borrisokane. In Borrisokane the traffic will take the N62 (signposted Portumna) and after 5 km traffic will turn right onto r438 voltage in Cloghan. In Cloghan movement will turn on the R357, before heading to the Parking lot near the sites.

How to get to the plowing from Dublin

Purple route: traffic from Dublin use the M4/M6 to the West of junction 5 on the M6 (Kilbeggan) and then on the N52 to Tullamore for 4 km, where Darrow turn right on L2005 (passing GAA pitch) and travel for 2 km, then turn left on R420 and travel for 2 km to take advantage of the Shuttle service on the website

How to get to the plowing North

Pink route: traveling from the North go via Mullingar and Tyrellspass N52 to. Traffic will be included in the village of Tyrellspass and Kilbeggan on the village through the R446 (old N6). Once through the village of Kilbeggan turn left for Clara on the R436. On the way to Clara traffic turning left at L2009 before joining the Thalmor R420 Clara road. Then traffic will turn right on Coolnahiley and be directed to Parking near the venues.

How to get to the plowing West

Green route: approaching from the West exit the M6 motorway at junction 6 (Horseleap, Clara) and will be forwarded to the city Curragh. Then the movement will focus on Ballycumber road. In Ballycumber movement will join the R436 (Clara Ballycumber road) before turning right towards the village of Rahan. In the village of Rahan traffic will be directed to L2011 to the venue and Parking.

How to get to the plowing from Kildare/ unit 15 M7

Orange route: activities of tourist traffic in a westerly direction along the M7 motorway will be closed at junction 15 (Cappakeel), turn right on the motorway and on the R445 (old Dublin). At new INN Roundabout traffic will pass through the village of emo and Kennells cross where it will turn right and be directed to Garryhinch cross and the village of Cloneygowan. Then traffic will follow R420 on the event website.


BUSES, TAXIS AND THE BUS

All buses on the brown / blue route will continue past entrance of blue trails and a further 400M

and the Park across the road from the venue. All buses travelling on the purple / pink route on the N52 (Mucklagh bypass) and Park across the road from the venue.

All buses traveling on the orange, yellow and grey routes will travel to Mountmellick, where they will engage in Tullamore.. 80. They will then be directed to the bus Parking at N52 (Mucklagh bypass) across the road from the venue.

All buses travelling on the Green route will leave M6 at junction 5, go to Kilbeggan and N52 Mucklagh to bypass and the Park across the road from the venue.

BUS:

A free Shuttle bus is operated by bus Ireland will operate from Killarney train station. This service will work in accordance with the timetable departure time from Killarney train station, starting at 06.55 am to 12 noon. The Shuttle bus will return running from the site to the Thalmor railway station at 14.00 and 18.30 PM. Go and pick up point is located at the main entrance along with the N52, and very close to 3 main entrances along the front of the site.

TAXI:

Taxis dropping off patrons will be facilitated as close to the parks as possible, when there is no interference with the flow of traffic.

There is no designated taxi area In or around the scene.
