The boss of iag, Willie Walsh gave the Scandinavian airline Norwegian a maximum of one year to accept transactions on the absorption.

IAG – which owns aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia and vueling – had snapped up a 4.6 PC package in Norway at the beginning of this year. Mr. Walsh said at the time that MAG would be interested in receiving an outright bid for the airline.

But yesterday he stressed that the window for the thrashing from the Internet end.

“There is no haste. But this time next year, if we have not received a Norwegian, we’re not going to keep these shares,” he said.

“If we are not acquiring it, we are not interested in being a shareholder. We will wait and see what happens, but it’s not a big issue in our agenda.”

Mr. Walsh confirmed that no negotiations between mga and Norwegian since April.

A former pilot with aer Lingus and chief Executive said that the magician can continue to use its new low-cost carrier level in order to implement a strategy that has accelerated with the acquisition of Norwegian.

Level started long-haul operation, but currently running short-haul base in Vienna, where 14 European destinations.

This movement puts it in direct competition with the Vienna low-cost carrier, Laudamotion in which Ryanair will soon be 75pc of the shares.

Mr. Walsh said he was “surprised” in the amount of €150, which Ryanair said last month that he expects Laudamotion to lose in the first year.

It is more than 100 million euros, Ryanair predicted.

“We are very pleased to have the opportunity to grow with level,” said Mr. Walsh.

“We started with four planes and clearly plans to expand significantly. We think it will be a good market.

“We always said that we have two options. One is that we can grow organically and that’s why we created level,” he said.

“When we expressed our interest in Norway, we said we will not have to slow down in terms of our development and we continue to focus on that organic growth.”

Mr. Walsh also said that it would be “foolish” not to use the growth opportunities associated with Aer Lingus.

The Irish carrier saw its operating profits soar 51pc 104м euros in the first half of the year, and presented return on invested capital over the last four quarters 27.8 PC – the highest to date for any other MAG divisions.

The magician has set an operating profit of €835m for the second quarter, which grew from €790m in the second quarter of 2017.

The company aer Lingus is planning to launch two new routes to North America next year as it takes delivery of four new Airbus A321 LR, according to its head, Stephen Kavanagh. It will bring its North American total to 15 routes.

New routes will be announced in the coming weeks, plans to launch next July.

Mr. Walsh said that the model of Aer Lingus was “very effective”.

“We have always believed that there was a possibility of the market, but credit to the team, they showed that it is even better than we thought,” said Mr. Walsh.

But Mr. Kavanagh also noted that the development of infrastructure at the airport needs to keep pace with the growth ambition of the airline.

“The forthcoming investment plan Dublin airport will represent a step change in investment in order to facilitate long-term growth at the airport”, – said the press-Secretary of the DAA.
