The social media giant has been undermined by a number of privacy and content scandals, the last in July, when the investigation of the British channel “Channel 4” ‘dispatches’ programme found disturbing messages, including violent videos involving assaults on children left on Facebook after reported by users and verified by the moderators.

In addition, second quarter results were the first sign that the new European privacy law the General rules of personal data protection (GDPR) – a string of privacy-related disputes involving Cambridge Analytics and other application developers without hurting the company.

New GDPR, the European Union, which entered into force on 25 may, forced a number of changes to Facebook privacy policy and the process leading a minority of users to choose non-personalized ads, which typically generate less revenue.

The number of daily active users of Facebook in Europe decreased by three million due to the introduction of the new rules.
