German rights passenger company Flightright takes Ryanair to court over whether it must pay compensation to passengers affected by the strike by the largest low-cost carrier in Europe.

Ryanair had to cancel around 1 in 6 flights on Friday due to the release of the pilots in five European countries, breaking about 55 000 visitors.

The most affected countries were Germany, where it affected about 250 flights around 42,000 passengers.

EU regulations state that passengers may request a refund in the amount of up to EUR 400 for flights within the region for cancellations or delays if the reason for extraordinary circumstances such as bad weather.
