Households are set to pay a high price for the renewal of the government’s attempts to tackle the problem of climate change.

The budget plans to increase taxes on carbon emissions and to equalize the price between petrol and diesel will see some families being hit for an extra €200 per year.

The transition to a tax on families to encourage them to become more environmentally friendly was condemned as unfair, as agriculture is one of the largest carbon dioxide emissions, but farmers will be exempt from taxes on the environment.

The budget is expected to include a number of energy and environmental taxes in order to increase targets for the reduction of emissions.

Ireland Leo Varadkar signalled earlier this month that the upcoming budget should provide for an increase in taxes on carbon emissions if Ireland can meet its commitments to combat climate change.

The budget in October will likely see an increase in tax rates on carbon range from €5 and €10 per tonne of CO2 emissions, in addition to €20 per tonne against emissions.

There is also likely to be gradual the first five years to get to the alignment of prices on diesel and gasoline, according to the Department of Finance tax strategy group paper on environmental taxes.

The document was composed of senior government officials in tax features of the budget.

Motion to raise the tax on carbon dioxide emissions at €10 per tonne of emissions would have significant consequences for the family:

Family diesel car is €38 more, to fill the year because of high taxes, and the price per liter will increase by 3.27 C after VAT.

Home heating oil will increase by €46 based on the use of 1,600 liters per year, and the price will increase to €28.65 per 1000 litres including VAT;

Coal is €26.33 more year, based on the use of a typical winter because it will grow in price by €1.20 a bag including VAT;

Briquettes are more expensive 26C, sending the price of Bale for €5;

The cost of natural gas will increase by €23.55 years based on average usage, according to mind.t. E.

He is actively signaled that the budget will see the beginning of the process of alignment of prices for diesel fuel and gasoline. Currently diesel fuel is about 10.8 degrees cheaper at the pumps than petrol.

Additional cost for equalization of prices between petrol and diesel is likely to be 2.16 grams per liter next year. A typical family car, did 20,000 km a year will cost an additional €30.

A family with two petrol cars, that uses home-heating oil and coal and briquettes, may end up facing additional €200 in the environment and taxes on carbon emissions, and adjustment of diesel fuel, the price of gasoline per year.

Researcher, Institute of international and European Affairs Joe Curtin said that agriculture was a free trip, despite this sector is one of the biggest polluters.
