Motor insurers Bureau of Ireland (MIBI) loans him fight against fraud to reduce.

He said that in the first seven months of the year were 8pc fall in claims.

In the period from January to last month, MIBI received a total of 1,572 claims – a drop of 144 compared to the same period in 2017. In the first seven months of the year, he received fewer complaints from 18 of the 26 counties of the state.

In MIBI, we intend to allocate more domestic resources to probing suspicious claims, and now more often with the police to investigate doubtful claims.

Executive Director MIBI, David Fitzgerald, said it was a positive for motorists to see that the number of claims has now begun to fall.

“Of course, these numbers represent only a snapshot in time,” he said.

“However, given that these statistics cover more than half the data, they are a useful indicator of the General MIBI requirements of the environment, and it shows a noticeable reduction requirements.”
