Shares in CRH were yesterday by 1.2 PC in trading on the Irish stock exchange after the company announced that it has completed the first phase of its stock repurchase program.

Between 2 may and 31 July this year, the largest in Ireland, the company repurchased 11.4 ordinary m shares on the London stock exchange at an average discount of 0.5 PC, the weighted average price, returning €350 million in cash to its shareholders.

CRH plans to hold a ransom of €1 billion of its own shares over the next 12 months, in a proposal announced in April.

Building materials group said that it will be releasing details regarding the next stages of the program to repurchase shares in the prescribed manner.
