In Bord Pleanála gave a firm owned by Developer Michael Cotter’s permission to build almost 1,000 houses on the site in Dublin, on the South side.

Viscount securities firm, Mr. cotter made to the planning Director an application to Bord Pleanála as a strategic housing development.

The original application of the Viscount to the farmer’s land, clay at Leopardstown was rejected by Bord Pleanála in January of last year, because the developer has not provided sufficient information for the management of stormwater in an area that is subject to flooding.

The decision to refuse permission for the development at that time, it was decided casting vote of the Chairman of the Board of Directors.

However, the Watchdog has approved the planning scheme, this time around.

“The proposed development is acceptable in principle, subject to national and local planning policy,” An Bord Pleanála said.

The project will include 355 572 houses and apartments, which the watchdog added that it “will contribute to the realization of national housing goal.”

Apartments in the scheme will be located in 17 blocks, in the range of heights from three to six floors.

The project is located in the corridor served by the green line Luas.
