The European Union will not abandon its fundamental principles to facilitate the UK’s exit deal with Britain, its chief negotiator said.

Michel Barnier said that it was possible for the UK and EU to find “common ground” and create “a partnership that has no precedent” after a meeting with British Secretary leaving the UK Dominic Raab in Brussels.

But speaking to reporters along with the Minister stated that the relations should “respect the single market and the framework of the European project”.

The speed of the negotiations is an increase in the front self-imposed deadline of October in the negotiations.

It comes amid fears can’t handle a British exit from the EU becomes more likely as the deadline for the conclusion of the agreement was even closer.

Mr. Raab noticed that there were still some “important issues” to overcome, including their future trade relations and the Northern Ireland border.

The Prime Minister of great Britain Theresa may, the quarter and month plan developed turbulent summit in July called for “accelerated customs agreement” between the EU and the UK plus “General rule” book for trade in goods, as already ruled from Brussels.

Answering the question why the EU did not seem to want to give ground on their principles to get a deal, Mr. Barnier said, “why do we need it? UK leaves the European Union, it is not the other way around.

“The UK is leaving and it’s his choice and we respect that choice, while regretting it. But the European Union is based on principles and values, about the rules.

“It’s a whole ecosystem that integrated rules and laws and standards, oversight and certification… that the Kingdom knows very, very well because we have built together, isn’t it? We built them for 40 years together.

“So those principles remain our principles, because that’s the way it is. These are the principles on which the single market is based”.

Mr. Raab, who will return to Brussels for further talks next week, said: “there are still some important issues to overcome – but about Northern Ireland, I think we both understand that, but also about future relations.”
