Huawei jumped ahead of Apple not to sue 2 position in the global smartphone market in the second quarter, just behind Samsung – hardening growth of Chinese competitors.

Huawei shipped a total of 54.2 million phones for the quarter, 41pc higher than a year earlier, to stay ahead of the iPhone maker for the first time, according to research firm IDC.

Telecom giant had 16pc of the market, compared with 21pc for Samsung in South Korea and 12 PCs for Apple. Xiaomi and OPPO, in China, the top five.

Manufacturers of Chinese smartphones recently gaining influence in their domestic market is growing, and they spread abroad.

Huawei pushed into Europe and Africa, though it failed to crack the massive US market. The company Apple wants to sell iPhones at a higher price than its competitors, and profit from services such as iTunes, which helped him the best profit forecasts for the quarter.

“The importance of networks is ahead of Apple in this quarter cannot be overstated,” said Ben Stanton, senior analyst at canalys, who also reported changes in quarterly market share.

“This is the first time in seven years that Samsung and Apple held the top two positions. The exclusion of a company from the USA forced him to work in Asia and Europe to achieve their goals.” Canalys noted that the second quarter is traditionally weak for Apple. Cupertino, California-the company is introducing new phones at the end of the year, typically sees sales climb in fourth and first quarters. The momentum for iPhone x that starts at$ 1000, not sustained in the second quarter, the firm said.

Worldwide, the smartphone market continued to slow deliveries sliding 1.8 PC over the quarter to 342 million units.

The number of smartphones shipped in 2017 fell 0.3 PC, according to IDC, the first decline after several years of strong growth.

Samsung’s profit took a hit on a sluggish market when it reported earnings on Tuesday.

The South Korean company that produces memory chips and screens as well as smartphones themselves, reported a net profit that was below analysts ‘ forecasts.

“The turnover of the company Huawei, apparently, Samsung group, but it should also serve as a warning for Apple, which needs to obtain the volume of a ship to support its growing separation services,” Stanton said in a statement.

“If Apple and Samsung want to keep their market position they need to make their portfolios more competitive.”
