Glanbia has no plans to start keeping financial statements in USD despite foreign exchange fluctuations in the first half of the year, which means an increase in income from the group’s sales and profit showed a much greater decrease than he experienced on a constant currency basis.

Last week, the company announced that first half revenues from wholly-owned operations, a decrease of 6.2 PC to €1.1 billion on a reported basis, but on a constant currency basis of 3.6 PC higher.

Its earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization wholly owned units fell by 7.3 PC to €123.7 m on a constant currency basis, but 16.6 PC on a reported basis.

The company receives about 80pc of its revenues in dollars, and reported figures in the first place, it’s all due to the fact that Euro-dollar translation effect.

Chief Executive Siobhán Talbot said that the company considered in the past reporting in dollars.

“We have no made a decision about reporting the dollar, but I think that our shareholders have become very clear that when we think about business, we think in constant currency metrics”, she said.

“Frankly, instead of having to bear all the necessary expenses that you have to do to report in dollars, I’m not sure that it will be any specific benefits,” said the chief Executive.
